Cells Arena is an online multiplayer game published by Commit Apps, SRL ("we"). This policy says what the game collects when you play it on iPhone, iPad, Mac or Android, or in a web browser at cellsarena.io, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: you play as a guest, we never ask who you are, there are no ads, and nothing is sold or shared for advertising.
What we collect
- A guest account. The first time the game starts it makes a random key and keeps it in the device's secure storage (the Keychain on Apple devices, the app's private storage on Android). In a web browser the key is kept in the site's local storage in that browser. The key is how the game recognises you next time. Our sign-in service stores only a one-way hash of it, next to a random player ID, your display name, whether you have been restricted for breaking the rules, and the times the account was created and last used.
- A display name. The game picks one for you from a list of microscopic creatures. Other players in the same dish see it on your cell and on the leaderboard.
- Five play milestones. To learn where new players give up, the game reports up to five events per launch: the game was opened, you joined a dish, your first loss, your first "Play again", and five minutes of play. Each is stored with your player ID, a random ID for that launch, the time we received it, the app version, the platform (iOS, Mac, Android or web) and whether the app came from a store or a test build.
- Gameplay. While you play, your steering, splits and ejects go to the game server, which runs the dish and sends the result to everyone in it. Gameplay is held in memory for the round and not recorded.
- Network data. Like any online service, our servers see your IP address. The sign-in service uses it to limit how often one address can sign in. The game server writes your IP address, player ID and display name to its log when you join and leave.
What we do not collect
No real name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, precise or approximate location, advertising identifier, or payment details. The game has no ads, no in-app purchases, no chat, no third-party analytics or advertising code, and it does not track you across other companies' apps and websites.
The website
The website cellsarena.io counts page views with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not identify visitors. The game itself has no third-party analytics or advertising code.
Why we use it
- To run the game: signing you in, placing you in a dish, showing your name to the players around you.
- To keep it fair and available: rate limits, investigating abuse, restricting accounts that break the rules.
- To improve it: counting how many players reach each milestone. We look at totals, not at individuals.
Where the GDPR or a similar law applies, we rely on providing the service you asked for (the account, the name and gameplay) and on our legitimate interest in keeping the game secure and understanding how it is used (logs and milestones).
Who else handles it
We do not sell personal data and do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. Two kinds of companies process it on our behalf: Cloudflare, which runs the sign-in service and keeps its database in Western Europe, and the hosting providers that run the game servers, in Europe or the United States. If you play from elsewhere, your data is transferred to and processed in those places. We may disclose data when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
The guest account and its milestones are kept for as long as we operate the game, or until you ask us to delete them. Sign-in sessions expire after 30 days. Server logs are overwritten on a rolling basis.
Your choices
- Deleting the game removes the key from an Android device, and nothing else can sign in to that account again. On Apple devices the key stays in the Keychain until the device is erased, so that a reinstall finds your account. In a browser, clearing the site's data for cellsarena.io removes the key.
- Deleting your data. Email contact@commit.md and we will delete the account and its milestones. A guest account carries nothing that identifies you, so tell us the display name the game shows you, your platform, and roughly when you last played, so that we can find it.
- Your rights. Depending on where you live you may have the right to see, correct, export or delete your data, to object to how we use it, and to complain to your data protection authority. Write to the same address for any of these.
Children
Cells Arena is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. The game asks for no personal information from anyone. If you believe a child has given us personal data, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
Everything between the game and our servers is encrypted in transit (TLS). The account key never leaves your device except to sign in, and our database holds only its hash.
Changes
If the game starts collecting something new, this page changes first, with a new date at the top.
